Fox News Anchor Roasts Stephen Colbert For Being An ‘Elitist A**’ With Joke About Gas Prices

Outspoken liberal comedian Stephen Colbert apparently thinks skyrocketing gas prices that hurt poor and middle-class Americans are funny.

“Today the average gas price in America hit an all-time record high over $4 per gallon,” Colbert said. “Ok, that stings, but a clean conscience is worth a buck or two.”

“I’m willing to pay $4 dollars a gallon. Hell, I’ll pay $15 a gallon because I drive a Tesla,” the 56-year-old comedian said, who has a net worth of $75 million.

Fox Business anchor Dagen McDowell took issue with this joke. She responded by saying Stephen Colbert has a brand that “is unfunny, pompous, elitist a**.”

“So at least he’s staying on that brand,” McDowell added.

Joe Biden has broken a 39-year record as Americans are facing the worst inflation rate in decades, according to CNBC.

“Inflation hit another high in February, marking the worst numbers since 1982 for American consumers,” the report says.

This rate is measured by the Consumer Price Index, which sits at 7.9 percent. Watch the clip:

Inflation effectively impacts Americans as a tax that particularly hurts the poor and middle class who are struggling to buy groceries, gas, and other basic necessities.

There is no clear indication that the inflation rate will decrease. Some experts say that inflation is expected to keep rising as Joe Biden and Democrats have called for more government spending.

High spending levels by the federal government are widely believed to be the cause of inflation. Economist Milton Friedman famously said, “Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon in the sense that it is and can be produced only by a more rapid increase in the quantity of money than in output.”

The price for a gallon of regular gas now stands at $4.17, according to AAA. This breaks a previous record of $4.11 a gallon in July 2008.

“US drivers have never paid this much for gasoline,” CNN reported on the record-high prices.

The Democrats’ plan to rely on Russian oil was a very, very bad idea. Gas prices hit a 31-year high under Joe Biden, according to USA Today.

A fired Keystone XL pipeline contractor told Fox News, “I’m not surprised at all. Because everything that Biden’s touched or done — it’s a failure.”

As Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, America quickly learned how dependent the U.S. is on Russian oil. Imports from Russia reached record levels in U.S. under Joe Biden. The U.S. imports as much as 600,000 barrels per day.

Biden still refuses to accept responsibility for this crisis despite making the disastrous decision to stop the XL Keystone pipeline, stop the flow of existing pipelines, and prevent drilling on federal lands.

As gas prices soared, he desperately blamed gas and oil companies of engaging in “illegal conduct” that is responsible for “costing families at the pump.” This allegation was also false as an investigation turned up no evidence of illegal conduct.
