It is rumored that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson believed actor Vin Diesel was difficult to work with in the “Fast & Furious” movies, Fox News reports.
Johnson apparently doesn’t shy away from controversy.
Despite calling himself a “centrist” and “independent,” the left-wing actor notoriously threw his support behind Joe Biden and Kamala Harris during the 2020 general election and openly criticized Trump for failing to provide “kindness” and “political unity.”
Johnson even says he’s considering a run for president himself someday.
More recently, however, Johnson is responding to Vin Diesel’s “tough love” comments regarding their feud during the “Fast and Furious” movies.
The feud allegedly began because Johnson shared a post to social media, in which he called his male co-stars of the “Fast & Furious” franchise “candy a**es.”
Then Diesel addressed the tension after they stopped filming in 2016. The interview was published in Men’s Health magazine.
Diesel said about Johnson’s character, “It was a tough character to embody, the Hobbs character. My approach at the time was a lot of tough love to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be.”
Clearly, Vin Diesel was suggesting that Johnson needed a lot of “tough love” in order to get the performance up to par.
Diesel continued, “As a producer to say, Okay, we’re going to take Dwayne Johnson, who’s associated with wrestling, and we’re going to force this cinematic world, audience members, to regard his character as someone that they don’t know — Hobbs hits you like a ton of bricks.”
“That’s something that I’m proud of, that aesthetic,” he added. “That took a lot of work. We had to get there and sometimes, at that time, I could give a lot of tough love. Not Felliniesque, but I would do anything I’d have to do in order to get performances in anything I’m producing.”
Johnson’s response? He said, “I laughed and I laughed hard.”
Johnson didn’t deny Diesel’s claims about needing “tough love” in order to get the performance right.
Instead, Johnson simply said, “I think everyone had a laugh at that. And I’ll leave it at that.”
In one last dig, Johnson added, “And that I’ve wished them well. I wish them well on ‘Fast 9.’ And I wish them the best of luck on ‘Fast 10’ and ‘Fast 11’ and the rest of the ‘Fast & Furious’ movies they do that will be without me.”
